By Julia and Irfan Introduction Wind turbines are one of the electrical source that makes energy throughout the world. This source of power is very efficient to people since it does not cost a whole lot of money. How does it work? Wind energy is the initial energy to make the wind turbines to start working by sliding along the blades of the wind turbines. When the blades turns (kinetic energy), the generator that attached will produces electric energy. The electric current will move through the wire to the electric grid (which saves electrical energy when wind is not around) and send it throughout the world.
How widespread is it? Many different countries in the world uses wind power but Europe uses a lot of the amount of wind power in the world. Europe uses a total of 48% of the world’s wind power the other countries are listed in the graph and table underneath. 83 countries uses wind power as the power basis.2.5% of the electricity in the world comes from wind power and shockingly only 3 countries in Africa uses wind power as their energy source. The three countries are Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
How efficient is it? If the wind turbines highness is increased by 10 meters, the wind speed will increase 20% and power output by 34%. Less than 180$ for a house to make one to power their own house. Benefits and Drawbacks
The Benefits of using wind power is that: using wind power does not create carbon dioxide that harms our earth by heating it up. Another fact is also that it stores electricity in the battery which can be used if there is not enough wind and also if your house is not connected to the national electricity grid.
The drawbacks are that the rotor blades created noises that disturb the people living in the area. Another drawback is that birds and bats get killed by flying in the rotors but it was improved to decrease the amount of death of bats and birds.
Roles in the future
Will it be more or less widespread?
More, because it is cheap it doesn’t create carbon dioxide people feel that the earth is getting really hot the cause of the thought will make people use non carbon dioxide materials
Will an increase in the human population increase or decrease its use?
Increase because there will be more people on earth, high chance that people won't use carbon dioxide materials so they will use stuff like wind turbines
Will a decrease in another method cause it to increase?
Yes, because wind turbines produces produce little amount of energy so if the other methods decrease, it have to increase so much to spread the energy throughout the country
Will an increase in another method cause it to decrease?
No , because wind turbines produce little amount of energy that doesn’t really drastically change it the other method increase
Will the energy used for this method be more or less available? Why?
More, because as the world gets hot, more wind turbines will be build, that doesn’t create carbon dioxide, so there will be plenty of energy to send throughout the world
Comments from Mr. Stevenson: This page needs a lot of work. You need graphics in the appropriate places and for the most part you need to write in complete sentences, though the content of roles in the future is okay.
